Bened Life extends psychobiotic benefits to boost mood in general public

Branded as Neuralli Mood, this second product offering combines Bened Life’s probiotic L. plantarum PS128 strain isolated from spontaneously fermented mustard greens with its postbiotic L. paracasei PS23 strain isolated from healthy gut contents.
Expanding the strain
In August 2022, Bened Life introduced its first PS128-powered product Neuralli MP to the U.S. market as a gut-brain medical probiotic to support mind, mood and movement in people with neurological conditions like autism spectrum disorder and Parkinson’s Disease.
Backed by decades of research that includes 12 clinical studies, PS128 has been shown to influence the production and metabolism of serotonin and dopamine by gut cells in addition to helping regulate gastrointestinal tract health by increasing mucin production in the gut lining. Recently published preclinical research in a Parkinson’s disease model also suggests that microRNA 155-5p in the proximal colon and in the brain striatum is involved in the gut-brain axis effects of PS128.
While Neuralli MP is administered as 60 billion CFU per day in a two-capsule serving, Neuralli Mood pairs a 30 billion CFU of PS128 with 20 billion heat-treated cells of PS23 per serving for added benefit along the gut-brain axis. The synergistic combination is marketed to reduce stress, improve sleep habits, support athletic performance and recovery, and increase calmness and clarity—all contributors to a growing market demand for a balanced lifestyle.

Synergy for healthy stress response
To date, Bened has investigated PS128 and PS23 strains individually, identifying a collection of neuroprotective and physiological benefits for each in response to various stressors.
Dr. Patno noted that both have shown stress-reducing and exercise recovery benefits, highlighting studies on the effects of PS128 in stressed information technologists and on performance and recovery in trained athletes, as well of heat-treated PS23 in nurses with work-related stress and university students with exercise-induced muscle damage.
She added that Bened is currently developing a clinical trial to evaluate the synergistic effects of the probiotic-postbiotic combination and has several other strains in the pipeline with potential sleep, cognitive, digestive and immune boosting functions.
