Organic, Plant-Derived Vitamins Developed to Meet Growing Demand
The global botanical supplement market is projected to continue to experience strong growth, rising from a value of $48.01 billion in 2021 to an estimated $51.48 billion in 2022.[1] This growth has also been enjoyed by the global vitamin and minerals market which was at $20.16 billion in 2021 and is forecasted to reach $21 billion in 2022.[2]
To meet the growing demand for both botanicals and vitamins and minerals, Vidya Herbs, a Bangalore, India based manufacturer of herbal extracts, unveiled a new line of organic, plant-based vitamins and minerals that represent the intersection between the need for nutrients and innovative ingredients that stay within the bounds of nature.
Established in 1999, the company has a deep commitment to utilizing the diverse botanicals the world has to offer to create cutting edge nutraceutical ingredients for use in dietary supplements, functional foods, and personal care products. The company has manufacturing plants in India, Japan, France with more locations to follow.
The company has developed a close partnership with farms that provide the raw botanical materials in order to ensure a continuous and stable supply. Through these long-term partnerships, farmers have continued to invest in expanding the acreage and yields of their farms as they know the company will reward those efforts by continuing to expand the type of extracts that originate from these crops to drive demand.
This new line of certified organic extracts builds upon the company’s existing, conventional grades of plant-based vitamin extracts which includes vitamin C from acerola (Malpighia glabra), camu-camu (Myrciaria dubia) and sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), as well as B vitamins from moringa (Moringa oleifera). The new extracts are prepared using a water extraction process and the ingredients meet major clean label requirements including being certified organic, non-GMO and allergen free of the 8 major food allergens including eggs, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, Crustacean shellfish, soybeans and wheat.
While some sources of sources of plant-based nutrients have already been widely available (e.g., vitamin C), the breadth of the company’s nutrient offerings allows for the development of a more comprehensive, certified organic multi-vitamin/mineral finished product formulation in a delivery form such as a tablet.
The vitamins offered in the new line include vitamin C derived from amla (Phyllanthus emblica) fruit, riboflavin (vitamin B2) from guava (Psidium guajava) fruit, folate (vitamin B9) from lemon (Citrus limon) fruit, biotin (vitamin B7) from sesbania (Sesbania grandiflora) leaf, as well as a customizable B vitamin complex that is a blend of 3 different botanicals.
The minerals the company offers include iron from curry (Murraya koenigii) leaf, zinc from guava (Psidium guajava) leaf, magnesium from lantana (Lantana camara) flower and leaf, and selenium from mustard (Brassica juncea) seed.
As the manufacturer of these plant-based vitamins and minerals, Vidya is capable of offering customized pre-blends to meet the specialized needs that formulators around the world have come to rely on from the company. The scientists at Vidya Herbs’ state-of-the-art R&D center in Bangalore, India are dedicated to continuous innovation in order to provide new sources or improved concentrations of vitamins and minerals that are all derived from botanicals nature has to offer.
Samples are available immediately from the company’s U.S. sales office in Red Bank, New Jersey and can be requested via e-mail at vasb@ivqlnureofhfn.pbz or by phone at 732-784-1587.
