Rachel Fresco used her background in naturopathy, Traditional Chinese medicine and clinical nutrition to found Bio-Botanical Research. As a formulator, she also creates herbal remedies, including Biocidin, the company’s flagship product.

Fresco grew up in the family pharmacy run by her pharmacist father watching her parents help people find answers to their everyday health challenges.

“As a kid, being able to help people who came in–whether they had cut their finger or they were looking for help with their prescription– I just enjoy being able to serve people and I got to understand the differences in people's needs, especially women, who are a large part of the people who come in looking for care,” said Fresco. “When I was in my early 20s, I actually had a personal health challenge and my friend said, ‘why don't you try acupuncture?’ and I went to the acupuncturist and it worked, it was so impressive to me. I'm like, ‘I want to be able to help other people, especially women, and learn Chinese medicine,’ and I was on the fence about what to do with my career at that point, and that was the direction I went into.”

When it comes to advice for female entrepreneurs, Fresco advised women to follow their intuition–something she says is an an often overlooked secret weapon.
