NutraCast: SANESolution CEO makes the case for postbiotics
SANESolution CEO Jonathan Bailor joined the NutraCast to explain why he is zeroing in on postbiotics.
“Consequently, the microbiome, the gut-brain axis, and gut health are the most in-demand area of health research today. Therefore, understanding how postbiotics play a role in gut health is vital for registered dietitians, which is why we created this CPEU course.”
When asked if consumers have ‘biotic’ fatigue, Bailor said he does think people have fatigue around nutrition in general.
“What we have noticed and surprised us, is people were not fatigued about talk of poo. Whether it's emails, whether it's Facebook, whether it's YouTube videos, the amount of interest that we started to see when we started talking about bathroom problems, was startling to us. We had no idea the number of people who were–not in a mean or bad way– were ignorant, like, ‘oh, I'm not supposed to have diarrhea every time I go to the bathroom?’” explained Bailor. “The reason I'm talking about poo now is I don't necessarily think a lot of laypersons care about prebiotics or probiotics or post biotics, but I do think and I actually now know through the data that a tremendous number of consumers are not happy with what's going on in their bathroom and they're not happy with what's going on in their gut.”
Bailor said telling someone they should make a deliberate effort to look in their toilet after using the bathroom is not exactly a message that is currently being shared. “I think when presented properly, this message could really help to revolutionize wellness in our country and in the world.”
