Expo West attracted over 2,700 exhibitors and packed the house with a variety of proteins featuring unique flavors and ingredients. Of the thousands of new products to debut, one stood out. Not just because it’s a raman flavored protein served hot—but because it’s difficult to pronounce.

BRØL, which means ‘roar’ in Norwegian, is a chicken collagen recovery drink. Øystein Danielsen, Director of Ingredients at Norilia, said attendees have enjoyed the savory alternative to the many sweet protein recovery products on the market.

There are currently three flavors to choose from: Ramen; Beetroot and Fennel; and Carrot and Orange.

Danielsen added that making collagen peptides taste good isn’t an easy task. "Hydrolized proteins doesn't really taste good, there are a lot of metallic and bitter flavors, but we managed to make a really good product that has savory, umami notes."

He pointed out that Norway's high animal welfare standards, sustainability goals along with clean, family farms are what make BRØL stand out.
