The journal recently switched publishers—a move that has caused some growing pains but is already paying off, according to Kreider.

The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (JISSN) is the go-to journal for many researchers, nutritionists and journalists. So when JISSN went on hiatus to transition to a new publisher, many were wondering what happened to the resource.

“The journal is up and running and back online,” explained Rick Kreider, PhD, JISSN Editor-in-Chief. “We transferred publishers to Taylor & Francis, we did that to increase affordability to people submitting their work and increase access. So that process ended the end of the year and then they took over officially the beginning of this year and there was a little slow down in the transfer, but everything's up and running now and we're excited about all of the papers coming out and the journal will continue being in the top 10% of journals in the field.”

Kreider said things are already looking up, with the new site positioned in the 95th percentile of all journals in the field. In addition to being more affordable for submissions, it’s also open access.
