Lisa Thomas is slated to expand market reach for the third generation, family-owned suppliers of sustainably sourced Chinese herbs.

Nuherbs just announced that it has brought on industry veteran Lisa Thomas as chief commercialization officer.

Thomas spent seven years with Herbalife Nutrition, most recently in the role of Senior Director of Product Development, Marketing & Innovation for North America. Previously she spent nearly a decade with NSF International, with her final two years there as General Manager Dietary Supplements & Sports Nutrition.

One major function of her role will include growing the reach of Nuherbs Bespoke Extracts. Developed in the US specific to customer’s individual needs, Bespoke Extracts are the value-add customization option for innovative products, helping differentiate and expand business in the marketplace for each client.

“One of the biggest things I'll be working on is something that we just launched at the company a few years back, and that's Bespoke Ingredients. I think a lot of people don't necessarily know what bespoke means, but it's very simple, made for a particular customer or owner of a brand. And one of the things that we do with our herbal extracts and botanicals is offer those in a bespoke manner,” Thomas explained. “We can customize them by doing different standardized extracts. We can do them to unique levels. There's even a possibility of using different formats that are not necessarily what you find extracts going into in the botanical world. So it's really about new product development for our customers who maybe just don't have that specific wheelhouse for a concept or a technology.”

Wilson Lau, president of Nuherbs, said he looks forward to working with Thomas, who will further strengthen the company’s Bespoke Extracts capabilities.

“We are particularly excited about the opportunities to develop extracts and products that are outside the traditional tablet and capsule delivery systems,” he added.
