The French supplier has redesigned its logo to highlight its mission of harnessing the potential of aquatic microorganisms to enhance human and animal health, protect biodiversity and address climate challenges.
New visual identity
As Lucie Lingrand, product manager at Fermentalg told NutraIngredients, the design direction was influenced by the trend of sophisticated simplicity.
This trend is a design approach that balances minimalism with refined aesthetics, with elegant typography, balanced compositions and restrained color palettes.
“The ‘F’ erected as a brand symbol is an allegory of microalgae cell multiplication and extraction of natural actives at the heart of Fermentalg’s technological know-how,” Lingrand said.
As such, she noted, the “F” is not just a logo; it is designed to symbolize the company’s work with microalgae, its technological expertise and its commitment to sustainability and human health.
The color palette combines plant and marine hues, in reference to the aquatic world and the specificity of microalgae. Additionally, the typography is now firmer, more present and more impactful; the clean, organic design refers to living things.
As Lingrand explained, the visual transformation aims to demonstrate the company’s evolution from a technology-focused business to a flexible, customer-centric industrial leader.

Microalgae-based solutions
The company also announced its decision to join the United Nations Global Compact, directly supporting the One Health concept, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health.
The One Health concept stemmed from finding links between antimicrobial resistance and antibiotics used in animal farming, as well as reports that up to three-quarters of human infections are estimated to originate from zoonoses—diseases which can be transmitted to humans from animals.
However, the One Health concept goes beyond antimicrobial resistance and zoonoses, incorporating an all-encompassing, holistic outlook on health.
It began to gain traction within the nutraceutical industry around the 2010s, influenced by broader trends in health science.
Now it is increasingly encouraged by both consumer and industry concerns about sustainability, biodiversity and the environmental impact of the nutraceutical industry, with movements being made to adopt One Health principles to promote products that support overall ecosystem health.
As Lingrand explained, Fermentalg’s bio solutions aim to protect biodiversity and enhance health and wellness.
For example, its commercially available product, DHA ORIGINS, provides essential omega-3s for human and animal health. In aquaculture, where DHA is crucial, it is produced through precision fermentation.
This method eliminates the need for natural harvesting, avoids harm to ocean biodiversity, ensures a controlled and pollutant-free environment and delivers a naturally high concentration without additional processing.
“By using our product in aquaculture and human nutrition with sustainable production process, this is how we address one health,” Lingrand said.
She added that DHA ORIGINS 580, Fermentalg’s highest naturally concentrated oil, is highly sustainable, as “one ton of DHA microalgae oil equals 50 tons of anchovies preserved in the ocean.”
By leveraging microalgae, Fermentalg is working to contribute to healthier food systems, offering sustainable nutrition solutions while reducing reliance on unsustainable food sources, as well as promoting cleaner environments to help prevent diseases linked to pollution, poor diet and ecosystem imbalances.
“This firm engagement, testifies to our support to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthens our mission to develop eco-friendly solutions for a healthier planet,” Lingrand said.
