Expert to explore the evolution and growth of esports
Esports has emerged as a rapidly expanding industry that has drawn viewers and investments alike, with growing research, products and academia catering to the booming gaming community. Jason Chung, Executive Director of Esports, University of New Haven, explained that student interest drives what programs schools offer.
“A lot of entertainment programs are adding esports as part of the curriculum, so it's been a very exciting time,” said Chung, who will be presenting on the topic at the upcoming Sports & Active Nutrition Summit.
What to expect
“I'll guide people through how we got to this point and what to look out for in the future. I'm an attorney by training. So what I'll look into is a little bit about why the the industry is architected this way. Why publishers have a lot of the power and supremacy in the space–there are a lot of legal reasons for it. So I’ll walk people through that. But also culturally, I want people to understand where this came from and how it derived from Asia and how it got out to North America and the broader world,” said Chung.
Following Chung’s presentation on the history and future of esports, Chung will join Daniel Lourenco, Founder & CEO, Ghost Lifestyle and Gary Kleinman, Co-Founder and CEO, Skinz.GG for a panel discussion.
