Christmas miracle? RedCon1’s Aaron Singerman released from prison early
Eleven months into his 54-month sentence, Aaron Singerman, who founded a sports and dietary supplements retailer, is out.
On November 22, four docket entries were filed and listed as “restricted/sealed until further notice.” According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Singerman was released on December 1.
The South Florida man who was the co-founder and operator of Blackstone Labs, a Boca Raton-based sports and dietary supplements retailer, was also ordered to forfeit $2.9 million.
In November 2021, Singerman pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell illegal anabolic steroids and other products marketed as dietary supplements that were unlawful under federal law. That same month, Singerman was arrested for “boating under the influence” in Broward County after he allegedly crashed into several docks and parked vessels while operating his RedCon1 boat. According to his arrest report, breathalyzer tests showed Singerman had about three times the legal limit blood alcohol limit with breath samples of .236 and .249.
In January 2022, Singerman drove on a suspended license while under the influence of Ambien, collided with another vehicle, crossed the median and struck a palm tree, according to a January 14 order by a US magistrate judge. The judge also revoked Singerman’s bond conditions and ordered he be sent to jail pending sentencing for his federal crimes.
Despite violating bond conditions, Singerman received a 54 month sentence. Prosecutors sought 78-97 months.
Protein bar controversy
While awaiting sentencing, Singerman’s defense attorneys submitted a memorandum requesting he receive 20 months. In the document, his attorneys cite Singerman’s donation of 20,000 Redcon1 protein bars during the height of the pandemic as proof that he is a caring citizen. The bars were donated to local police departments, first responders, food banks and hospitals. However, bocanewsnow.com reported that this donation–which was videotaped by a production crew and sent to news outlets–was made after the federal indictment.
After receiving some backlash, the police departments returned the bars. The food banks and hospitals also gave them back.
Role at RedCon1 unknown
It's unclear whether Singerman will pick up where he left off. RedCon1's website does not list Singerman as part of its leadership team and according to his LinkedIn page, Singerman lists himself as 'owner' of the RedCon1 gym.
Other key player still locked up
In November 2021, Blackstone Labs’ other co-founder, Phillip (PJ) Braun also pleaded guilty to counts 3 and 4 of a 14-count indictment, which charged Braun and Singerman with introduction of unapproved new drugs into interstate commerce with intent to defraud and mislead and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
Braun also received a 54-month prison sentence for his role at Blackstone Labs in selling anabolic steroids and other illegal products marketed as dietary supplements. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Braun’s release date is still slated for November 6, 2025.
