Barley: Help Prevent CVD with High Fibre
Barley, an excellent source of fibre proven to help lower cholesterol, offers protection against cardiovascular disease (CVD). CVD accounts for almost one out of every three deaths in the U.S. and almost 90 per cent of Canadians have at least one CVD risk factor. Barley, an ancient cereal grain, is one of the richest sources of β-glucan soluble fibre. It is also a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals. Both the U.S. and Canada permit a heart-health claim for foods containing barley.
