Attorney breaks down Dr Robert Califf’s comments at CRN conference
Megan Olsen, Senior VP and General Counsel, CRN, joined NutraIngredients-USA to break down some of Califf’s comments and highlight key takeaways.
Califf likened the FDA to a referee, making sure all teams are playing by the rules. Several times the Commissioner instructed the room of mostly CRN members to spend “more time actually measuring what the health benefits are in reliable ways.”
“It's interesting because it's like you're talking to the team, the CRN team, those that are members, and we're here because we are responsible industry. You're talking to the team that is for the most part playing by the rules, and we want everyone else to play by the rules, so FDA as the referee really needs to be going after the other team that are the bad actors and are not doing the right thing,” Olsen said.
